Tata Motors has unveiled the internal combustion engine variant of the Sierra concept SUV for the first time at Auto Expo 2025. This model is in a Production Ready state, and the revived Tata Sierra is set to hit the Indian market later this year. Similar to many vehicles in Tata Motors’ lineup, this SUV will offer petrol, diesel, and all-electric powertrain options.

The Tata Sierra ICE showcases subtle design variations in contrast to its EV counterpart. Inside, it boasts three screens and a four-spoke illuminated steering wheel. It is expected to offer engine options including a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel.

The Sierra ICE bears a strong resemblance to its all-electric counterpart. Aside from a subtly modified grille and distinct alloy wheels fitted with 195/65 R19 tires, the design elements of both the ICE and EV models are largely similar. The SUV retains several iconic design features from the original Sierra, including the signature curved rear-side windows, prominent wheel arches, and elevated bonnet. Additionally, this marks the debut of the Sierra in a vibrant yellow hue, providing a striking contrast against the black cladding.

Tata Sierra: Interiors

This nearly production-ready Sierra boasts an interior equipped with three screens: a digital instrument cluster, along with central and passenger-side infotainment touchscreens, all anticipated to be 12.3 inches in size. Notable features of the cabin include a four-spoke steering wheel adorned with an illuminated Tata logo and ambient lighting. It is reported that Tata plans to offer the Sierra in both 4- and 5-seater configurations.

Regarding features, the top-tier versions of the Sierra are expected to include a high-end sound system (likely from Harman), a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and ventilated front seats. The safety package is anticipated to encompass six airbags, 360-degree cameras, electronic stability control (ESC), and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Tata Sierra: Engine

The Sierra, built on Tata’s ATLAS architecture, is anticipated to feature a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 170hp and 280Nm of torque, alongside a 2.0-litre diesel engine option. This diesel variant is expected to be similar to those found in the Harrier and Safari, though it is yet to be confirmed if it will maintain the same output of 170hp and 350Nm.

Both manual and automatic transmission options will be available, and the Sierra may stand out with the inclusion of all-wheel drive technology. According to earlier reports, the pricing for the Sierra EV is expected to be revealed prior to the launch of the petrol and diesel models, which are set to hit the market in the latter half of this year.
