MG has unveiled its latest offering, the Windsor, in India, offering introductory prices starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (excluding showroom charges). This marks MG’s debut product in the country following its partnership with JSW earlier this year, and it positions Windsor as the third electric vehicle in MG’s lineup, following the ZS EV and the Comet. Bookings are set to open on October 3, with deliveries expected to begin on October 12.

MG Windsor boasts a claimed range of 331 kilometers. It features 135-degree reclining rear seats and a panoramic glass roof. Bookings are set to begin on October 3.

What’s intriguing is that the battery is offered on a rental basis, meaning the cost of the car does not include the battery. MG is referring to this as Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), where customers pay a nominal fee per kilometer driven, set at Rs 3.5 per km. MG argues that this arrangement reduces both the initial acquisition cost and the cost per kilometer.

The Windsor is available in three trims: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence; and four colors: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.

MG Windsor : Exterior Design

The MG Windsor boasts the quintessential MPV design, yet it cleverly limits its capacity to just five passengers, divided across two rows, giving it a distinct resemblance to a more spacious hatchback. Its minimalist design is highlighted by sleek flush door handles, pristine surfaces, and expansive LED light bars at each end. The front end features a stepped design, with headlamps elegantly mounted on the bumper, further enhancing its unique appeal.

It also features a large glasshouse that seamlessly wraps around the rear, extended quarter glass sections, and steeply raked front and rear windscreens. Additionally, there’s a generous use of chrome along the windows, door sills, and front and rear bumpers. The Windsor is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels featuring a stylish 5-spoke design.

MG Windsor : Interior Design

The theme of minimalism extends throughout the interior, which is elegantly finished in black with copper highlights. The dashboard stands out with its large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complemented by a free-floating 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. Additionally, the front seat backrest offers the unique feature of being fully reclined, known as the “aero lounge seats,” allowing for a 135-degree recline. This electric platform-based vehicle’s interior is designed to maximize space, featuring a flat floor and a spacious, floating center console equipped with cupholders.

MG Windsor (Interior)

What sets Windsor apart in India is the inclusion of physical buttons for the AC controls, which are conveniently positioned just below the central screen. This feature is notably absent in international models, where all in-cabin controls are squeezed onto the screen. Other notable equipment features include wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging capabilities, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, wireless phone charging, a panoramic glass roof, and ambient lighting.

Windsor (6 Airbags)

In terms of safety, the Windsor boasts six airbags, ABS with EBD, all four disk brakes, front and rear parking sensors, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a 360-degree camera.

MG Windsor : Battery Details

The MG Windsor is equipped with a 38kWh LFP battery featuring prismatic cells, boasting a claimed range of 331km. This front axle-mounted motor delivers 136hp and 200Nm of torque, ensuring a powerful and efficient driving experience. The Windsor offers four driving modes – Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport – allowing for versatility in performance. MG proudly states that the Windsor is compatible with fast charging, capable of reaching 80 percent charge in just 55 minutes with a 45kW charger. Additionally, it will be available with 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC chargers, which can fully charge the battery in approximately 14 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively.

MG provides a lifetime warranty for the battery, ensuring peace of mind for first-time buyers of the vehicle. Furthermore, the company offers complimentary public charging for the first year, making it even more convenient for owners to keep their vehicles charged and ready to go.
