Hyundai has filed for a trademark for the design of the Genesis GV80 Coupe in India, suggesting a possible future release in the country. The introduction of the GV80 Coupe could signify Genesis’ debut in the Indian market, positioning itself as a competitor to established luxury brands like BMW, Mercedes, and Audi.

Genesis is anticipated to introduce the GV80 Coupe as its entry into the Indian market, with the launch projected to take place in late 2025.

Hyundai Genesis GV80- Overview

A few months back, we covered Genesis’ debut in India, and the design patent for the GV80 Coupe confirms this. While the GV80 is offered in both SUV and coupe-SUV variants, only the latter’s design has been officially patented in India.

The Genesis GV80 Coupe is more athletic compared to the GV80 SUV, showcasing a sleek fastback roofline and a bolder design. The GV80 Coupe, painted in a vibrant orange hue and equipped with massive 23-inch wheels, served as a preview for the production model. Although the production version retains the concept’s overall shape, some of the more extravagant features of the show car have been dialed back slightly. We can expect to get three gasoline engines Options, starting with a 300-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder. An optional turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 delivers 375 horsepower, but the most powerful option is a variant of the V-6 equipped with both a turbo and an electric supercharger, producing 409 horsepower.

The interior, inspired by the standard GV80, swaps the three-row layout for a two-row configuration. Dominating the dashboard is a large 27.0-inch digital display that provides access to infotainment functions and essential vehicle information like speed and navigation. Sporting a more aggressive design compared to the regular GV80 SUV, the cabin includes features such as a flat-bottomed steering wheel and metal-accented throttle and brake pedals, enhancing the overall sporty feel. Once we have the opportunity to test drive the GV80 Coupe, we will determine firsthand if Genesis has successfully infused a sporty character into the vehicle.

Hyundai Genesis GV80- Powertrain, Launch Date

The Hyundai Genesis GV80 offers three powertrain choices in international markets: a 2.5-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 304hp, a 3.5-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 380hp, and a 3.5-liter paired with a 48V electric supercharger delivering 415hp and 549Nm of torque.

Hyundai has not yet confirmed the launch of the GV80 Coupe in India or Genesis’ introduction to the Indian market. However, we anticipate the brand’s first product to be introduced by the end of 2025. If the GV80 Coupe does make its way to India, it will compete against the Mercedes GLE, BMW X5, and Audi Q7.
