Mahindra BE 6e deliveries are scheduled to begin in late February or early March 2025.
Mahindra BE 6e
Mahindra unveiled the highly anticipated BE 6e Yesterday, offering introductory prices starting at Rs 18.90 lakh (excluding showroom, India). The BE 6e and the XEV 9e are the two new electric coupe SUVs that Mahindra has introduced today. Beyond its striking design, which stands out as one of the BE 6e’s most notable features, several key specifications are worth noting. These include an ARAI-certified range of up to 682 km, a maximum power output of 281 hp, and a claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds.
The BE 6e marks the inaugural product from the newly established electric-only BE sub-brand. This is anticipated to be the beginning of a series of products bearing the BE 6e name, which were previously previewed through the BE.07 and BE.09 concepts.
Mahindra has recently unveiled the pricing for the base trim of the BE 6e, known as the Pack One, which excludes the charger, which must be purchased separately. This variant comes equipped with a smaller 59kWh battery pack. The prices for higher-spec trims will be announced at a later date. The Mahindra BE 6e is now available with two battery pack options: a 59kWh and a 79kWh. These packs are exclusive to the rear-wheel drive model at launch. The full price list for these options will be unveiled in January at the Bharat Mobility Show.
Mahindra BE 6e : Exterior Design
What truly stands out about the BE 6e is its remarkable resemblance to its groundbreaking concept. In fact, the only discernible differences between the production version of the SUV and its concept counterpart are the traditional wing mirrors in place of the concept’s cameras and slightly adjusted positioning of the door handles. The styling is sleek and modern, with a sharp and edgy look throughout. The prominent wheel arches, adorned with a thick gloss black cladding around the sides and on the face, create a visually appealing dual-tone exterior finish. A particularly interesting feature is the air duct running between the headlights, which directs air through the bonnet for enhanced efficiency.
Other elements that catch the eye are the illuminated logos, the C-shaped LED daytime running lamps encircling the main headlamp cluster, and the two-part split spoiler and full-width wraparound LED tail lights at the rear. The high-deck rear, featuring the coupe roofline and a wraparound glasshouse, also contributes to its unique silhouette. However, this design choice seems to have compromised the rear window line, limiting the view out. Additionally, the rear bumper receives a diffuser-like effect, further enhancing its sporty appearance.
Mahindra BE 6e : Interior Design
The interior design is as bold as the exterior, building upon much of the original concept. A standout feature is the halo-like trim that encircles the driver, creating a cockpit-like ambiance inside. This trim stretches from the dashboard to the center console, accommodates the driver’s air conditioning vents, and effectively divides the cabin into two sections. The passenger side air conditioning vents are also cleverly integrated into a slim strip on the dashboard.
Instrumentation and entertainment tasks are managed by dual, 12.3-inch floating screens equipped with a new software, MAIA, boasting over 30 pre-installed applications. This system features 24 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor, which Mahindra proudly asserts is the fastest chipset available in automotive grade. The infotainment system also offers three pre-set themes – Calm, Cozy, and Club – each with signature tunes specially curated by AR Rahman, along with adjustments for ambient light and climate control.
The Mahindra BE 6e also features a segment-first augmented reality head-up display, among other notable enhancements. These include a new two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with an illuminated Mahindra logo and a floating center console designed to house an aircraft thrust lever-style drive mode selector, a rotary dial for selecting drive modes, a wireless charging pad, and cup holders. As an electric vehicle, it boasts a clever open storage area located just below the floating center console. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an aircraft-inspired control panel on the roof, which includes controls for lighting and the sunroof, along with unique strap-type interior door handles.
The top-spec variants of the BE 6e offer an array of features that set them apart. These include dual-zone climate control, a massive panoramic sunroof featuring integrated multi-color lighting patterns and laminated glass that blocks UV rays. Additionally, they come equipped with auto park assist, an in-car camera, an electronic parking brake, a Dolby Atmos 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ambient lighting, a powered driver’s seat with memory function, 5G connectivity, and built-in Wi-Fi for OTA updates.
The Mahindra BE 6e also boasts a Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree cameras, seven airbags, and more. What makes the 6e truly unique is its innovative BYOD (Bring Your Device) feature, allowing you to connect any external device to the front seat back and stream your preferred content.
Mahindra BE 6e : Battery Pack, Range
The Mahindra BE 6e will be available with two battery packs: a 59kWh unit and a 79kWh unit, both featuring Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. This flagship electric vehicle is built on Mahindra’s scalable and modular INGLO EV platform, which leverages BYD’s blade cell technology. It boasts a ‘compact three-in-one powertrain’ configuration, consisting of a motor, an inverter, and the transmission.
The BE 6e will be available in two different power configurations: the 59kWh variants are equipped with 228 horsepower, while the 79kWh variants boast an impressive 281 horsepower. Both versions are rated at 380Nm for torque. At launch, the BE 6e will be available in a rear-wheel drive configuration, although an all-wheel drive (AWD) version is expected to be introduced in the future. Mahindra is boasting a 0-100kph sprint time of just 6.7 seconds for the higher-spec variant of the BE 6e. The car features three drive modes: Range, Everyday, and Race, in addition to an optional Boost mode that delivers 10 seconds of maximum torque. These specifications are identical to the XEV e9.
The larger battery pack boasts an ARAI-claimed range of 682 kilometers, or a WLTP range of 550 kilometers; the smaller battery pack comes with an ARAI-certified range of 535 kilometers. Mahindra also offers a lifetime warranty on the battery pack and claims that the batteries can charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes using a 175kW DC fast charger.
As standard, the company offers two options for the charger: a 11.2kW AC charger that can charge from 0 to 100% in either 8 hours or 6 hours for 79kWh or 59kWh, respectively, and a 7.3kWh AC charger that operates in a similar time frame. These chargers must be purchased independently. The BE 6e also boasts several technical features, including adjustable regenerative braking, electric power steering with variable gear ratios, semi-active suspension, brake-by-wire technology, and disc brakes on all four wheels.
Mahindra BE 6e : Dimensions
The BE 6e boasts a length of 4,371mm, a width of 1,907mm, and a height of 1,627mm, all of which are identical to the XEV 9e. This consistency extends to the wheelbase, which measures 2,775mm, ensuring cost optimization and streamlined packaging across all INGLO models. The coupe-SUV is equipped with 19-inch aero-optimized wheels and 245/55 section tires, providing a robust presence on the road. Alternatively, larger 245/50 R20-inch wheels are available for those seeking an even more commanding look.
Mahindra highlights the BE 6e’s impressive ground clearance of 207mm and a turning radius of less than 10 meters, showcasing its maneuverability. Additionally, the vehicle offers a spacious boot area of 455 liters, complemented by an extra frunk space of 45 liters, ensuring ample storage and convenience.
