The Yamaha R1 continues to thrive! Yamaha has refreshed its premier supersport model for the US market, introducing several exciting updates.
Yamaha Motor Corp USA has unveiled significant enhancements to its flagship YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M Supersport models, designed to boost aerodynamic performance, handling, and braking capabilities. These updates are highlighted by the introduction of new carbon fiber aerodynamic winglets for both models, a technology that has been refined through rigorous on-track and off-track testing by Yamaha’s factory MotoGP® racing program. Furthermore, the standard YZF-R1 is receiving a complete redesign of its KYB® fork and state-of-the-art Brembo® front brakes, elevating Yamaha’s flagship R-Series Superbike to unprecedented levels of performance.
2025 Yamaha R1 : Details
Designed to epitomize the pinnacle of sportbike performance, the Yamaha R1 is set to return in 2025, boasting the same explosive 998cc CP4 cross-plane engine, comprehensive electronics suite, and renowned handling character that has propelled it to an incredible streak of AMA/MotoAmerica Superbike titles over the past 14 seasons. Yamaha leverages the knowledge gained from high-level competition to offer some of the industry’s most advanced and capable Supersport models.
The lineup of new features for 2025 introduces lightweight Brembo® Stylema monobloc front brake calipers, complemented by a state-of-the-art Brembo® master cylinder. This combination promises unparalleled braking power and an exceptional tactile experience. Additionally, the KYB® front fork has undergone a complete redesign, delivering outstanding performance, road feel, and chassis stability. The sleek carbon fiber winglets not only enhance the R1’s aerodynamic appeal but also generate additional downforce, improving the front-end feel during braking or cornering. To further enhance the riding experience, a new rider and passenger seat cover texture has been introduced. This innovative design strikes a perfect balance between grip and ease of movement, fostering a deeper sense of control and connection with the vehicle.

2025 Yamaha R1M : Details
Yamaha’s pinnacle of specification and exclusivity, the 2025 Yamaha R1M, distinguishes itself from the crowd with its unique color scheme, gleaming aluminum swingarm, and bold full carbon fiber bodywork that flawlessly merges with the new carbon fiber winglets, creating an aggressive, track-oriented appearance. An engraved, serial-numbered badge accentuates its exclusivity.
In addition to the advanced performance capabilities of the powerful 998cc CP4 crossplane engine, comprehensive electronics suite, and lightweight aluminum Deltabox frame that come standard on the R1, the R1M takes performance to an even higher level with its sophisticated Öhlins® Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS). This system takes advantage of data from the motorcycle’s IMU, including vehicle speed, lean angle, acceleration, and brake pressure, to quickly adjust the front and rear damping in real-time for optimal suspension performance during braking, cornering, or accelerating. The ERS simplifies suspension tuning by offering streamlined dynamic tuning modes for both street and track use, as well as manual modes for more traditional suspension tuning.
Furthermore, the YZF-R1M is equipped with GPS data logging as a standard feature. Yamaha’s innovative Communication Control Unit integrates data logging and GPS technology, bringing the sophistication of factory superbike technology directly to your fingertips. This system allows for the recording of vehicle data, including course mapping and automatic lap timing, all managed seamlessly by GPS. This data can then be wirelessly transferred to an Android® or Apple® iOS® app for analysis. Riders have the flexibility to adjust system settings and upload these modifications back to the YZF-R1M, ensuring a customized experience for each track session.
