New 2024 Tata Curvv EV Gets Two battery pack Option 45kWh and 55kWh & ranges of up to 502km and 585km, respectively.
Tata Motors has unveiled its eagerly anticipated fifth all-electric vehicle, the Curvv EV, in India. Available at a price range of Rs 17.49 lakh to Rs 21.99 lakh. The Tata Curvv EV offers two battery options: a 45Wh and a 55kWh. The front-mounted motor delivers 167 horsepower, achieving a claimed 0-100kph acceleration time of just 8.6 seconds. The top-spec Empowered+ variant features a panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats, making it the top-of-the-line model.
Tata Curvv EV – Exterior Design
The Curvv EV and its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts exhibit minor design variances. The electric model showcases a sealed grille, a charger mounted on the front that shuts off once the EV is in motion, and a bumper with vertical design accents. The EV’s sides are distinguished by 18-inch alloy wheels, equipped with a design optimized for aerodynamics, and these wheels are set at 215/55 tires. The rear of the EV remains consistent, apart from the badges. Both the front and rear LED lights feature a unique welcome design.
Additionally, Tata has launched its exclusive range of accessories known as Tata.ev Originals, allowing customers to customize both the exterior and interior of the Curvv EV.
Tata Curvv EV – Interior Design
The Curvv and Curvv EV both have the same interior design, but the electric version stands out with its unique white and grey color combination, in contrast to the red and grey look of the original. The dashboard, like that of the Nexon, features a 12.3-inch touchscreen that floats, with a climate control panel below it and trapezoidal air vents.
The steering wheel is similar to that of the Harrier and includes paddle shifters for changing regenerative braking settings, with top-of-the-line models adding a 10.25-inch digital display for navigation. The center console includes a rotary selector, a gear lever (different from the knob on the Nexon EV), and a wireless charging pad. The Curvv EV is equipped with a rear trunk.
When it comes to features, the most advanced model boasts leather seats, seats with adjustable ventilation, a rear seat that can be adjusted in two stages, a cooled storage area, charging ports for both the front and back, in-car technology, the Arcade.ev app, a wide-angle sunroof, and a motorized tailgate that responds to hand gestures. The most luxurious version is also equipped with a 320W 9-speaker JBL audio system.
Safety is a priority, with the range’s top model including six airbags, an electronic parking brake that can hold in place, hill-start and descent assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), a system that alerts drivers if they are getting too tired, a blind spot monitor, and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features. The Curvv EV is also designed to alert pedestrians with sound up to 20kph to ensure their safety.
Tata Curvv EV – battery Pack Details
The Curvv EV offers two battery pack options: a 45kWh unit for the Creative, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ S variants, and a 55kWh unit for the Accomplished, Accomplished+ S, Empowered+, and Empowered+ A variants. The 45kWh pack provides an estimated range of 502 km, while the 55kWh pack boasts a range of 585 km on a single charge. Tata asserts that, adhering to its C75 standard, the long-range model is expected to achieve a range of 400-425 km, with the 45kWh Curvv EV projected to have a range of 330-350 km. For comparison, the MG ZS EV’s 50.3kWh battery has an ARAI-rated range of 461 km.
The 55kWh variants are equipped with a 167hp electric motor mounted on the front axle, whereas the 45kWh variants feature a 150hp motor, both generating 215Nm of torque. The Curvv EV 55 boasts a claimed acceleration time of 8.6 seconds from 0-100 km/h and a top speed of 160 km/h, while the 45kWh model achieves a 0-100 km/h time of 9 seconds. Tata highlights that the battery can be fully charged in just 15 minutes and can reach a 10-80 percent charge in 40 minutes using a 70kW charger. The iRA app is mentioned to include an integrated charge point, and the model is designed with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.
Additionally, Tata claims a 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear of the vehicle, a ground clearance of 190mm, and a water wading depth of 450mm for the Curvv EV.
